Microcomputer Application in Groundwater Hydrology (Module I), 20 participants from GCC countries, 4-8 October, 1997, Arabian Gulf University, and Numerical 3D Groundwater Flow Modeling Using MODFLOW (Module II), 20 participants from the GCC countries, 11-15 October, 1997, Arabian Gulf University.

The two workshops (Module I & II) have been acknowledged by the UNESCO Cairo Office, and were considered as part of the UNESCO-IHP regular training workshops in the field of water resources (groundwater). Since then, they have been carried out under the sponsorship of UNSECO as follows:

  • Regional Training workshop “Module I: Microcomputer Application in Groundwater Hydrology and Pollution,” 27 May-5 June, 2000, at the Arabian Gulf University (20 Participants from the GCC and the Arab countries).

  • Regional Training course “Numerical 3D Groundwater Flow Modeling Using MODFLOW” at the Ministry of Regional Municipalities, Environment, and Water Resources, Sultanate of Oman, 24-30 September 2001, organized by UNESCO Cairo Office, ALECSO, and ISESCO, for sixteen Omani and Arab professionals (Jordan, Libya, and Saudi Arabia).

  • Regional Training Course on “Numerical 3D Groundwater Flow and Contaminant Transport Modeling Using MODFLOW and MT3D” at the Ministry of Regional Municipalities, Environment, and Water Resources, Sultanate of Oman, 22-27 May, 2004, sponsored by UNESCO Cairo Office and ALECSO, for 12 Omani and 4 Arab professionals (Egypt, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan).

  • Special Training Course “Numerical 3D Groundwater Flow Modeling Using MODFLOW”, Cairo, 14-24 December, 2004, organized by UNESCO for sixteen Iraqi Professional, UNESCO program of Rebuilding Iraq: Water Sector.

  • Special Training Course “Numerical 3D Contaminant Transport Modeling in Groundwater Using MT3D”, Cairo, 15-23 March, 2005, organized by UNESCO for sixteen Iraqi Professional, UNESCO program of Rebuilding Iraq: Water Sector.
